  5. Hi all,

My Uncle "Vickers Graham" was a Sergeant Air Gunner on this fateful flight, BK43 crashed into a Paddock behind the Vicarage in Oakham Co Rutland,
I have Aerial Photo's of the Crash Site some months before & after the incident,
I have researched the tragic incident quite thoroughly and even contacted the Pilots Brother in NZ,

I would still like to know if anyone has further details of the incident, or what happened to the wreckage,

    Thanks

    Frank Graham

  8. Thank you for this site. I am the nephew of 2nd Lt Robert C. Simmons who died 27 September 1944. He was with the 849th Bomber Squadron, 490th Bomber Group, Heavy. From the limited information I've been able to find the air craft name was Heavenly Body. Knowing there is a memorial marker near the crash site sent shivers through me, as I never knew about it. I do know, and have visited twice the grave at the American Cemetery in Cambridge England. If there are any living members who may have known my uncle, or if there are any photos of the crew, and or the air craft, I would love to see and or hear from you.

    Thank you again.

    Sincerely,

    Robert C. Simmons
